Very friendly service! A nice family place so very loud inside but there is a large outside eating area . Portions are large enough to share

We went to this same restaurant 25 years ago on our honeymoon. The food was delicious and plentiful and the staff is great! Plenty of social distancing and cleaning!

Service was great and the food was amazing.

Good food. Had Mexican burrito with steak and it was very good. Chips are good. Would like bigger cups for salsa but taste was excellent, especially the hot salsa. Good time and El Lago has been our family tradition for Lake Lure fireworks for 3 years now.

I had the shrimp cocktail and it was excellent side ordered rice and beans also very good. I will be back.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area & one of the most inexpensive. Food & service has always been good.

Most of the time this place is ok, however on busy weekends or high traffic holidays, the wait times are LONG! They don't bring on enough staff to handle the traffic. My party waited an hour after placing our orders for the food to arrive. No one came to ask about bringing additional chips or beverages. After bringing out food we also had to wait a few minutes longer for them to bring us silverware. This place is a staple in Lake Lure and during normal traffic it's just as good as anywhere, however when it is high traffic, be prepared to have long waits and poor service. Obviously this situation could be solved by hiring additional staff, but ownership seems not interested in doing that as I've witnessed this for several years!

They were only working 50% tables .Lot of space . There needs to be dedicated front door cashier host type . Too busy and they were running. Food was ok , the bar is set real high .I have had worse and better. No one can make mexi food like my grandma. She is I hope with Yeshua or asleep💗.🌷🙏🌷💗I miss her tortillas , beans ,prayers, and the way she would call me "mi hija". Yeshua come💜

El Lago is a family run restaurant with a view of Lake Lure. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Customers are greeted and seated promptly and served very quickly. It is definitely one of our favorites places to eat at the end of a busy day.

This place is so good! I got the Mexican burrito with chicken. Will definitely be back.

Delicious Mexican with a huge menu and salsa bar. Super friendly staff and large portions make this an excellent spot for grabbing a quick bite. I had the Carnitas dinner which came with three warm tortillas. I should mention the bean dip that came with the chips was INCREDIBLE. Will definitely be back.

The food is good and not spicy, as we don't like that type. Prices are very reasonable.

I went on my birthday. They don't use real Mexican cheese and don't offer any birthday special. A dessert or drink would of made a difference but they said they dont. Food was ok, service was reasonable.

Wonderful environment, all waiters, waitresses, hostess, were great. Food was awesome, made two meals for myself and sister-in-law. Prices are great!! Wish it wasn't so far from Florida.

Great food. Very friendly staff. Saw they have a bar if you wanted a cocktail. Right across the road from Lake Lure Beach.

Was a regular and also a local. My daughter found some type of bug in her food, when confronted the manager did not want to speak to us, did not want to make it right, completely shocked as I said we were regulars and locals, and he refused to even acknowledge us. I work in the town and I will never recommend this restaurant to tourist or other locals ever again.

Food here is great. Staff is always friendly. They are always able to accommodate parties of 8 or more with no issues. The salsa bar is nice as well.

Great service. Clean environment. This was our first time back in a dining room since covid19. We were a little bit nervous, however everything went well and we overall felt safe.

Bad food and service is worse! Rude blonde Hispanic lady was the worst server I have had anywhere! Had to flag her down to ask if we could finally order our food, not one time did she come back to our table. Saw her sitting in the patio area with a couple children and on her cell phone. After our meal had to go find her and ask her for our check. When i stated that she never came to our table to check on us, her response "did you get your food, well Ive been busy" Told the cashier about our experience and his response was "oh" No apology or nothing! Its very clear they don't care about their customers at all, and probably assume everyone is a tourist and wont be back anyways. Far better places to eat in the area!

Always feel like I'm at home. Mexicano chorizo carne asada on corn tortillas! Unbelievable!

One of our favorite places to eat when in Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. The burritos are excellent and they have a great Little salsa bar.

Generous portions. The complementary bean dip was a nice perk. Ice cold beer. Otherwise exactly as you would expect from from a Mexican restaurant.

Terrible service..And you need to learn how to make ceviche! If you can't make it correctly, take it off the menu! Won't be back..

Very nice place across from the lake. It's not very obvious, but worth finding. Service is outstanding and the menu offers plenty of choices. Vegetarians will be happy and the kitchen was happy to veganize anything. Come for the salsa bar, though. Outdoor seating is plentiful. Only complaint would be the wastefulness of the disposable cups for the salsa bar.

Drove from Greenville SC to Lake Lure NC to celebrate my son's 22nd birthday. At his request we had another great Mexican meal at El Lago across from the beach in Lake Lure. What a beautiful view to be surrounded by water and mountains. I even asked for something off menu and they made it for me without blinking an eye. I was not disappointed. It was very good. The bean dip salsa with the chips brought to the table was very much a good surprise. You should go there just to try that. But, make sure you stay and order a few of your favorite Mexican night out entrees. You won't be sorry.

Great food! The portions are legit huge! Loved we found it on an unexpected day trip to Lake lure!
